nouveau-firmware software package provides Firmware for nVidia graphics cards, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install nouveau-firmware
nouveau-firmware is installed in your system.
Make ensure the nouveau-firmware package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep nouveau-firmware *
You will get with nouveau-firmware package name, version, architecture and description in a table
